Interesting article about Nolan directing the next Superman movie as well as "Batman 3".
Two key points about this article that I found interesting.
- Mr. Freeze will not be in the last Batman installment from Nolan.
- Their idea for the Superman movie came from them brainstorming about "Batman 3"
I know this has been all over the internet and we know it is a fan creation but I still think this is pretty cool. Really reminds me of the viral marketing they had for the second movie, which btw would be great if they brought back.
I read this earlier also...I'm intrigued. I was talking to Jordy about giving the Superman franchise a shot in the arm...but I just don't think that Superman has the relevance in the 21st century as he did in the prior... This world is just too small for the man of steel. But if they were to do a film...I'd hire on Paul Dini and Bruce Timm as consultants. Their animated series crossover with Batman and Superman was incredible and could serve as a jumping off point for a film. The other thing that struck me in the article was when Nolan said: "Unlike the comics, these things don't go on forever in film and viewing it as a story with an end is useful."
ReplyDeleteI disagree...it's not conventional story here...it's a superhero story. I think it's an interesting approach...but it fails in my book. It takes the edge and motivation that defines Batman... I talked at length with Jordy about this just the other day, when he brought up my Nolan Batman post on my blog, and it's like watching a movie about JFK as president. The events that make the most sense would be his actual presidency...that's what we want to see not JFK the high school years... I'm simplifying it...but I think you get my drift, yes? no? Anyways...Batman has the most impact as and established Batman...that's why this new animated Batman series tanked...and Batman the animated series is still relevant and viable. But yah...whatever. I've got work...I'll see you on later. Peace.
